Terms of Service
Last updated: 13 October 2026
These terms govern your use of Actual Size (the on-screen ruler, printable ruler, protractor and set squares). By using the site you accept them. If you do not agree, please do not use the site.
1. What the service is
Actual Size is a free, browser-based measuring aid. You calibrate it against a real object of known size (a bank card, a battery or a sheet of paper), and it then draws a ruler at true scale for your current screen and zoom level. No account is required and no measurement data leaves your device.
2. Not a precision instrument
The tools are intended for everyday estimating, layout, homework and craft work. They are not a substitute for a caliper, micrometer or any certified measuring instrument. Results depend on your display's pixel density, your operating-system scaling, your browser zoom level and how carefully you calibrate. Do not use the tools where a wrong measurement could cause injury, damage, financial loss or a safety or compliance failure.
3. Acceptable use
You may use the site for personal, educational and commercial purposes, free of charge. You must not attempt to disrupt the service, scrape it in a way that degrades it for others, or use it to build a substantially identical competing product by copying its code or content.
4. Intellectual property
The site's design, text, graphics and code are owned by Actual Size, except for third-party components released under their own licences (for example three.js, MIT). You may link to any page and may print rulers and set squares for your own use. You may not republish the pages or sell the content as your own.
5. Advertising and third parties
The site may display advertising served by third parties such as Google AdSense. Those providers may set cookies subject to their own policies and to your consent choices. See our Privacy Policy for details and for how to opt out of personalised advertising. We are not responsible for the content or practices of external sites we link to.
6. Availability
We aim to keep the site available but do not guarantee uninterrupted service. Features may change, and parts of the site may be withdrawn without notice.
7. Limitation of liability
The site is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Actual Size is not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of, or reliance on, a measurement, a printed output or any other part of the site.
8. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. The "Last updated" date above shows the latest revision, and continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
9. Contact
